How long have you worked at Curtin? 3 years and 8 months.
Where did you work prior to starting at the University? UWA.
What do you like best about your role? I am a teacher and researcher which gives me an opportunity to interact with both UG/MSc students and also HDR students. In addition I am able to carry out my own research on cancer.
Why did you choose your current career path? I always was fascinated by Science and this made me choose my current path.
First job? I have worked at different institutions such as University of Sri-Lanka, UWA, Perth and Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Baltimore, USA. I enjoyed all my jobs.
Worst job? N/A.
What project are you currently working on and what does it involve? I am mainly working on Cancer Biology in particular Cancer Stem Cells. It involves interacting with HDR students and also with people at industries.
Your favourite place in the world and why? My favourite place is Perth and that’s why I decided to come back to Perth having spent 10 years at Johns Hopins University for 10 years.
Your favourite cuisine and why? My favourite cuisine is Indian and Italian. There are so many dishes and that’s why.
What is the best piece of advice you have received? Always aim high and give your best shot in whatever you do.
Tell us something about yourself that your colleagues wouldn’t know? I just love to listen to music in spare time.
