Teaching and Learning Forums

The Teaching and Learning Forum, Schollaboration was held on Thursday, 10 December.  Congratulations to Julianne Crowley, Arpana Dhar and Ajanthy Arulpragasam who contributed to both Schollaboration and to the West Australian Teaching and Learning Forum, hosted at Curtin University, on 28 and 29 January 2016.  Julianne and Arpana delivered an excellent presentation, ‘Is co-teaching just load-sharing or can it provide opportunity for peer review?’ and Ajanthy presented her work on ‘Benchmarking syllabus and assessment of an interprofessional first year human biology unit: Too hard, too easy, just right?’ Both of these projects were achieved from successful 2015 TEDF grants.

The Teaching and Learning forum this year was aimed to showcase “Purveyors of Fine Learning since 1992”.  This was an annual WA event which brings together educators from all West Australian universities and colleges to discuss, share and develop their ideas on issues confronting learning and teaching in the High Education sector.  Celebrating its 25 year anniversary, keynote speakers included Professor Kerri-Lee Krause, Deputy VC and Provost at Victoria University and Professor Sally Kift, Deputy VC at James Cook University.   There was an excellent representation of Teaching Focussed/Clinical Professional staff from the School of Biomedical Sciences and with 260 delegates in total, the presentations were divided into six rooms with multiple different teaching topics discussed.  This format enabled individuals to attend topics that they found relevant to their own teaching or SOTL research areas.
