Other publications

Dr Josh Ramsay recently published an invited Letter to the Editor in the journal Mobile Genetic Elements (MGE), reviewing work that was published in the Nucleic Acids Research (which won a Faculty of Health Sciences High-Impact-Factor award) and in Journal of Bacteriology.

In the Letter to the Editor, Dr Ramsay, et. al. reviewed and further documented work carried out by the School of Biomedical Sciences lecturer David E. Townsend (who sadly passed away this year) in the 1980s at Curtin, and revealed how important his discoveries were to our present understanding of antibiotic-resistance gene transfer in the bacterial pathogen “Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus” (MRSA).

Dr Ramsay was also an invited speaker at the recent Australian Society for Microbiology meeting in Perth where he presented the research documented in this Letter.
