International Student Wins WAUFP Award

Pharmacy student, Steven Kang Sheng Yong, was presented with the faculty’s Western Australian Universities’ Foundation Program (WAUFP) Award at the School of Pharmacy Awards Ceremony on Tuesday 1 March 2016.

The award was established by Health Sciences International to recognise high-achieving WAUFP international students from Canning College, who have been offered entry into a health sciences program at Curtin. The award provides the recipient with a one-time bursary amount of $3,500 to support their academic studies at Curtin.

In other news, Health Sciences International and the International Sponsored Students Unit (ISSU) jointly hosted a dinner event on Thursday 17 March 2016 to celebrate the start of a new semester, and welcome all newly enrolled and existing sponsored students under the Faculty of Health Sciences.

More than 25 students and staff attended the event, providing the opportunity for students to connect with their peers and with representatives from the School of Public Health, Health Sciences International and ISSU.
