Health Informatics and Genomics
CENTRE FOR POPULATION HEALTH
This Area of Research reflects the utilization of databases and informatics techniques to support health services research. A key focus is on the development data linkage methodology and protocols to derive critical knowledge synthesis and transfer. Key areas will include patient safety and health outcomes; pharmacoepidemiology and medication safety; health systems evaluation; spatial health; and information systems design. Specific interactions with population health genomics including screening, ethics, and early detection of common and complex diseases are also evolving. Cross-sectorial linkage is a developing area and will support inter-disciplinary engagement with government, industry and research bodies. The development of data linkage methodology to derive research outcomes will include collaboration with clinical, biomedical sciences and research groups.
