Physiotherapy graduates excel internationally

Posted: 16 May 2014

Two former physiotherapy honours students, from the School of Physiotherapy and Exercise Science, recently competed in the Asian Young Physiotherapy Researcher Challenge in Singapore landing first and second prizes for their research projects.

Leandra Gonsalves’ research project entitled: ‘Children with Developmental Coordination Disorder Play Active Virtual Reality Games Differently to Typically Developing Children’, scooped first prize. Stefano Vinci’s research project entitled: ‘Selected Physical Characteristics and Playing Related Musculo-skeletal Problems in Adolescent String Instrumentalists’ won second prize.

Leandra was supervised by Dr Amity Campbell, Ms Lynn Jensen and Professor Leon Straker. Stefano was supervised by Dr Sonia Ranelli and Associate Professor Anne Smith.

This is a great achievement, congratulations to both of our graduates and to their supervisors. This is a fantastic profile boost for us internationally.
