Welcome Lunch for Filipino Nursing Students

Posted: 20 May 2014

Health Sciences International together with Curtin International hosted an informal lunch event on Monday, 19th May 2014 at the Council Chamber Foyer to welcome all newly enrolled Filipino Nursing students of Curtin University.

The lunch event also provides the opportunity for the Filipino students to connect with representatives from the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Health Sciences International and Curtin International.

The event featured special guest, Anne Alonzo (a Curtin Nursing Conversion graduate), who gave an inspiring speech to fellow Filipino students on her transition to Perth and her career progression to become a clinical nurse manager in an aged care facility. We thank Anne for taking the time out of her busy schedule to meet with our Filipino students and for her helpful advice and tips.

Anita Kinkela (President) and Liza Ma (Secretary) from the Filipino Australian Multicultural Association (FAMAS) Perth also attended the event to connect with the Filipino students and to update the students on upcoming FAMAS cultural activities.
