About CHIRI Biosciences

The Curtin Health Innovation Research Institute encourages researchers to ‘think outside the box’ and to explore novel ideas. We believe this strategy is more likely to realize breakthrough new therapies for disorders that commonly afflict older aged individuals.

The research we focus on

Hot topic research foci of the Institute include:

  • identifying new treatments for age-associated blood vessel disorders;
  • new therapies for immune disorders;
  • novel interventions for lifestyle associated cancers and new approaches for the prevention and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia’s.

Sponsorship and partnership opportunities

Presently a limited number of unique sponsorship and partnership opportunities are available that may be of reciprocal value. In addition, targeted donations of any value can be easily arranged to support specific research projects; the world-class training of next generation Australian researchers; or the purchase of state-of-art technology platforms. Moreover, donations to the Curtin Health Innovation Research Institute are fully tax deductible.

Curtin Medical School

Identifying cause and new treatments of diseases associated with ageing is core business for CHIRI. However, translation to clinical practice is the ultimate aim to decrease burden of disease and improve quality of life. With the establishment at Curtin University of the only undergraduate medical program in Western Australia, Curtin is uniquely positioned to provide doctors for future generations of Australians with a contemporary understanding of cutting edge research that will be at the core of future therapies. Learn more about Curtin's new medical school.
