Biotechnology and Drug Development Research Laboratory
Our research focuses on innovative pharmaceutical and therapeutic systems utilising the Microencapsulation technology for drugs, cells, and tissue engineering. It aims at using cutting-edge research to develop new therapeutics for inflammatory disease models, with particular interests in diabetes. We develop targeted controlled-release delivery systems, bioengineered particles and cell delivery matrices.
We have an interest in utilising bile acids as formulation-excipient, permeation-enhancers and biotherapeutics in drug and cell delivery systems. These systems are designed for enhanced efficacy in preclinical and clinical applications. Our systems have wide applications in pharmaceutical and biomedical science, in bioencapsulation of mammalian cells, as well as poorly absorbed drugs.
