About the School

Curtin Medical School is part of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Curtin University.

The faculty has a long and proud history of offering high-quality health education, as seen through our 24 undergraduate degrees and numerous postgraduate qualifications. Our vision is to create highly competent doctors of the future who integrate into an interprofessional environment and put patient safety and quality care first.

This vision has been built on Curtin’s strong health sciences foundation, and on a philosophy of innovation and teaching excellence.

Welcome from the Dean

After five years of careful planning and negotiation, I am proud and honoured to be able to welcome an inaugural cohort of medical students to Curtin in 2017. We will be seeking applicants who want to provide competent and compassionate medical care to people who currently have inadequate access to health care.

Although we will train doctors to the highest standards of the Australian Medical Council and they will be fit for internships and future specialisation anywhere in Australia, we particularly want applicants who see themselves as the WA GPs of the future.

Looking forward to meeting you in 2017.
