About the school
The School of Pharmacy has a proud history of almost 50 years of excellence and innovation in teaching and research. Working closely with the profession, we offer a four-year undergraduate Bachelor of Pharmacy and a two-year postgraduate Master of Pharmacy (Graduate Entry) degree that both lead to registration as a pharmacist. These degrees have a strong focus on clinical education and the underpinning sciences related to pharmacy, and were fully accredited by the Australian Pharmacy Council in 2013.
A feature of both the Bachelor of Pharmacy and Master of Pharmacy (Graduate Entry) programs is the extensive practical experience provided to students by direct interaction with community and hospital pharmacy and other areas of the profession. The programs in pharmacy are delivered by experienced and dedicated staff under the supportive environment of state of the art facilities. The school engages in a process of continuous quality improvement and is dedicated to ensuring the courses it offers are of the highest quality. Our graduates therefore have the knowledge, skills and attributes which are valued highly by prospective employers in Australia and around the world.
Our teaching laboratories include a model pharmacy and dispensary with software and hardware, pharmaceutical formulation and manufacturing facility, an aseptic suite, and spacious, modern laboratories for the teaching of pharmaceutics and medicinal chemistry.
A wide range of opportunities for postgraduate studies by research and course work are available. In 2014, programs offered by the School of Pharmacy include the Graduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy, Master of Clinical Pharmacy, Master of Philosophy (Pharmacy) and Doctor of Philosophy.
Our coursework postgraduate programs in clinical pharmacy provide continuing professional development for practicing pharmacists, while doctoral and master’s degrees by research programs are provided in all discipline areas of the school.
