Financial assistance

There are a number of options available to eligible students to assist with the payment of the Go Global program.

Scholarships

Various scholarships might be available in 2017 for students participating in the Go Global program. Visit the Curtin Scholarships website and type ‘Go Global’ in the keyword box for more information.

New Colombo Plan

The Go Global Program have a number of New Colombo Plan grants at the value of $3,000 per student grant for the Go Global India June/July program. Students applying must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Be an Australian Citizen
  • Students cannot receive a Student Grant to undertake a mobility project in a Host Location in which they have dual citizenship or residency rights or they have previously been a citizen of permanent resident
  • Be enrolled in an on-shore campus throughout the duration of the Mobility Project
  • Be undertaking Bachelors of Honours Degree

OS-HELP

OS-HELP is a financial assistance initiative introduced by the Commonwealth to assist eligible students with a range of expenses for the purpose of overseas study.

OS-HELP allows eligible students to access a loan to help with the cost of studies undertaken overseas (travel, living expenses or tuition fees), as part of their Australian degree.

Fundraising

Go Global provides students with a set of Fundraising Guidelines upon booking. In the past many students have managed to gather a large part of their placement fees through fundraising and most have said that the time and effort was definitely worthwhile. Please read the 2017 Go Global Program Guide to gain some useful tips on how to raise the money to fund your incredible journey ahead and raise funds for your Go Global project.

Centrelink

Centrelink will generally stop payments when people have left the country. Students who are enrolled full time and are undertaking their Go Global placement For Credit will generally continue receiving their Centrelink payments subject to a Letter to Confirm Enrolment being provided to Centrelink.

The Go Global team will provide students with all the necessary information and deadlines to ensure this is done prior to departure.

Students who are travelling Not for Credit are not eligible for this service and we recommend you contact a Centrelink Office if you have any questions.
