Welcome to Lynne Oakes, who has recently joined the school as Senior Technical/Scientific Officer.

Born in the UK, Lynne’s family came to Perth as immigrants when she was 13 years old. Lynne grew up in Western Australia, and was educated here. She graduated from Curtin with a B App Sc (Medical Laboratory Science). After working for a few years as a graduate scientist at Royal Perth Hospital, Lynne went travelling. She lived in New Zealand for 10 years, and got married and had three children during that time.

Lynne’s working career has been quite varied, ranging from working in pathology laboratories in the public and private sectors, to teaching high school biology and being a scientist in the food industry. Lynne’s previous position, before coming to work at Curtin this year, was as a sales representative in the life science market.

At the end of 2016, Lynne made a decision to have a lifestyle and career change. In first semester 2017, she started at Curtin as a casual sessional staff member and is now working two days a week as a Senior Technical/Scientific Officer in the multidisciplinary lab in Biomedical Sciences.
