OTSW co-hosts disability conference
In April 2016, the School of Occupational Therapy and Social Work co-hosted the 3rd Ratchasuda International Disability Conference in Bangkok, Thailand.
Prior to the conference, research academics from the school, led by Head of School, Associate Professor Angus Buchanan, visited Ratchasuda College, Mahidol University, to meet with the Dean, Associate Professor Tavee Cheausuwantavee, and other senior administrators.
The purpose of the visit was to discuss further collaborations between the school and the college, including continuing to develop research partnerships, and exploring opportunities around staff and student development. Academics at Ratchasuda College are considering the possibility of a study tour to Curtin, and the school, for their PhD students later in the year.
Researchers from the school made substantial contributions to the conference, including a keynote address by Associate Professor Buchanan, panellist discussions by Associate Professor Fielding and Dr Thoresen, and four individual paper presentations. Dr Thoresen was also invited to attend and present at additional visits to key government agencies, disability service providers and advocacy agencies in Bangkok and Chonburi following the conference.
