Welcome to our new staff members

Welcome to all our new staff members at the School of Public Health.

Dr Jacqui Hendriks has joined Matt Tilley and Sam Winter in the the sexology team in CERIPH. Jacqui will be responsible for the following units:

  • COUN2000 Introduction to Sexology Attitudes and Values.
  • SXLG3000 Sexology in a Contemporary Context.
  • OUA SEX380 Sexology in a Contemporary Context.

Jacqui has been a sessional staff member for several years within the School and is the Project Manager for the Provision of Sexuality and Relationships Education to Pre-service and In-service Teachers Project (WA Dept Ed. Funded).

Jacqui completed her PhD in 2014 titled, Are attitudes and intentions towards sex associated with risky sexual behaviour in urban Western Australian adolescents? Her research interests include, Sexuality from birth to young adulthood; Sex and gender diversity; and Relationships and sexuality education (school, home, peer).

Dr Novak Elliott has joined to school as a Research Fellow on a CRC project – closing the loop: (health based) evidence for low carbon design.  Novak has a background in biomechanics research and has just returned from a 4-year sabbatical in Guatemala; he is also studying Physiotherapy at Curtin in his spare time.

Associate Professor Alexander Larcombe and Associate Professor Anthony Kicic have joined the school in the Occupation & Environment Theme.

Alex is the current Head of Respiratory Environmental Health Research at the Telethon Kids Institute.  Anthony is the Head of Airway Epithelial Research, also at the Telethon Kids Institute, and is the winner of the Telethon Kids ‘Supervisor of the Year’ award for 2016.  Alex and Anthony bring with them 2 category 1 research grants:

  •  ARC DP17: Development of a screening tool to identify safer biodiesels ($401k)
  • NHMRC project grant: The health effects of electronic-cigarettes ($580k)
