National Close the Gap day
On 16 March 2017, there were hundreds of Close the Gap Day events across the country, with the aim of bringing people together to share information and take meaningful action in support of achieving Indigenous health equality by 2030.
Events ranged from workplace morning teas, sports days, school events and public events in hospitals and offices around the country.
In the Faculty of Health Sciences, Miss Cheryl Davis, Director Indigenous Engagement, Professor Lorna Rosenwax, Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor, Associate Professor Georgina Fyfe, Dean, Learning and Teaching, Professor Torbjorn Falkmer, Dean, Research & Graduate Studies and Mr Phil Hocking, Faculty Business Manager, attended a Close The Gap Day Breakfast hosted by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
In the faculty, we are educating the health professionals of the future and they will be an important part of Closing the Gap by 2030. The official Close the Gap video can be watched below, and highlights some of the key targets we need to meet to achieve Indigenous health equality.
