Ambassador to Brazil visits

The School of Biomedical Sciences recently welcomed Australia’s Ambassador to Brazil, Mr John Richardson, to the University. Professor Philip Newsholme, Head of School, and Dr Evelyne Deplazes showed Mr Richardson around the laboratories and discussed the school’s research projects.

The school and the Curtin Health Innovation Research Institute (CHIRI) collaborate with the University São Paulo and University Cruzeiro do Sul (both located in São Paolo, Brazil) on research into ‘metabolic reprogramming’ in immune cells induced by dietary macronutrients, and the role of vitamin D in the promotion of muscle function and performance in humans undertaking exercise training.
