Inaugural cohort of paramedics graduate!

In 2013, Curtin accepted its first cohort of students into the Bachelor of Health Science Paramedicine Major. Three years, and countless hours of study, later that group of enthusiastic students has graduated as fully qualified Ambulance Officers.

The Bachelor of Health Science Paramedicine Major is offered through a partnership with St John Ambulance Western Australia. The collaboration provides students with an authentic work-integrated-learning (WIL) experience, whereby they are employed during years two and three of their degree, whilst studying online with the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine.

This distinctive approach to learning provides students with experience working inter-professionally in the pre-hospital environment, as well as specialist placements with a range of professionals.  The students have been working in pre-hospital care for the last two years and are already making a difference to patient care.

The Bachelor of Health Sciences Paramedicine Major is accredited by the Council of Ambulance Authorities.
