Fieldwork/clinical placements provide you with important opportunities to learn through direct experience. During placement, you’ll put your professional role, knowledge and skills into practice in authentic work settings. You’ll engage with people from diverse backgrounds, including other health professionals you may work alongside in the future.
You will have the opportunity to undertake clinical placements at:
- Midland Hospital
- Royal Perth Hospital
- Fiona Stanley Hospital
- Peel Hospital
- Fremantle Hospital
- General practice clinics across the state, and in rural medical settings
Please read the following essential requirements for fieldwork/clinical placement before you apply for a course.
You do not need to meet these requirements before you enrol, but it’s important you understand your obligations so you can successfully complete the placement component of your course.
The majority of placements take place in the Perth metropolitan area, but there are opportunities for you to complete placements in regional and remote settings.
You will undertake fieldwork placements throughout your degree, with a concentration of rotations in Year 4 and Year 5.
Read about your obligations as a current student and find links to useful resources.
In the field, you will be representing yourself, your course or chosen profession, and Curtin University. You are expected to demonstrate professional attitudes and behaviour at all times.
As a student, you must satisfactorily complete all fieldwork activities, pass assessment requirements and demonstrate attributes associated with professional conduct. To facilitate this, you should refer to your unit outline, Blackboard and the fieldwork manual, and read the important information on essential fieldwork requirements.
